This is why we’ve brought what we call the Artstor experience — its library and key functionalities — to JSTOR. We know that Artstor isn't just images, but also the experience of using those images, whether that involves downloading or citing, zooming or comparing, creating groups, or sharing curated content. On JSTOR, these features will be enhanced, maintained, and joined by many more.

As the primary entry point to Artstor on JSTOR, we recommend linking to the Artstor Collections tab on the JSTOR Image Search page (www.jstor.g.sjuku.top/images#artstor-collections). This will be most similar to linking to library.artstor.org and also enables researchers to see options for searching all collections (www.jstor.g.sjuku.top/images), or browsing by classification and geography.

Yes. On August 1, 2024, library.artstor.org was redirected to jstor.g.sjuku.top/images, Artstor item stable links were redirected to their counterpart on JSTOR, and image group links were redirected to their Workspace folder counterpart. Redirects will be in place for at least a year (August 1, 2025) per best practices, though we recommend updating permalinks for content and images now.

All usage reports are available in JSTOR Admin. All JSTOR COUNTER usage reports are available in the COUNTER tab of the portal. We have also created separate Artstor on JSTOR reports which can be found on the Artstor Collections tab. We've also added custom COUNTER reports for usage of the Artstor open and licensed collections on JSTOR at the collection level, item level, and across both the Artstor and JSTOR websites. Finally, you can view data on user activity on the JSTOR platform beyond COUNTER metrics with the Engagement Report. This report includes counts for items views and downloads, as well as logins, browsing, advanced searches, saves to Workspace, and full-screen presentation use. Yes. In accordance with COUNTER requirements, we provide reports going back two years. To download reports for the Artstor platform, please go to the COUNTER tab in JSTOR Admin and select the Artstor radio button under the ‘platform' option. Learn all about available reports on JSTOR.

You can start your search with images only, or start with a general search and narrow your results to images. You can search by media type or color, search within curated Artstor collections only, browse by collection, geography, or classification, and save as you go.

Yes. Workspace on JSTOR replaces image groups. Here, you can save, organize, present, annotate, and export Artstor's images and groups along with articles, book chapters, and other images and primary sources from JSTOR. We also copied all Artstor users' groups to JSTOR in February 2024. Learn more in the image group section of this FAQ.

Yes. On April 15, 2024, we brought Artstor users' personal collections to JSTOR. If you previously uploaded images to a personal collection on Artstor, you can now find those images under a new "Uploaded items" tab in your JSTOR Workspace.

In this new space, you can upload new images, organize your uploaded items with folders in your Workspace, and share those folders with members of your institution. You can use your uploaded items with all of the tools available in Workspace such as exporting to PDF, PowerPoint, or ZIP as well as presenting and comparing in full screen. Visit our collections page to browse or filter the collections list, or perform a search within all collections. You can scope your search to Artstor collections or open collections only, and you can use search facets on collection pages to browse within collections by classification, geography, date, image resolution and more.

In June 2022, we improved presentation of metadata on image pages, with more relevant metadata now appearing higher on the item page. You can search for an image and see for yourself!

Yes. JSTOR copied all Artstor users' image groups to their personal JSTOR Workspaces in February 2024. For users who made changes to their Artstor image groups after that date, we performed an additional copy of affected groups in late July 2024. Learn more about Artstor image groups on JSTOR.

Groups and their shared permissions were still copied over to a user's Workspace. Links to groups should now redirect to the corresponding folder on JSTOR. In the event that a group is still in use but owned by a user no longer affiliated with the institution, admins should make a copy of the folder and reshare with their institution.

No. JSTOR’s work to copy image groups from Artstor to JSTOR did not affect image groups that were already copied to Workspace.

Yes, if the image group owner's affiliated institution and group's institution shared permissions are the same institution, we automatically reshare the new workspace folder with that institution on JSTOR.

Users will receive a report listing any items that failed to copy due to being unavailable on JSTOR. When or if an item becomes available, it will automatically appear in the Workspace folder.

Yes, all image groups that exist for a user on Artstor were copied into a Workspace folder. A user can easily delete unwanted groups that are automatically copied.

Unlike the Artstor Digital Library content on the standalone Artstor website, which was licensed to Artstor participants by JSTOR, the Public Collections on the Artstor website were published and managed by content contributors and not part of the licensed Artstor content. These contributors have control over their content, including whether or when it is published to JSTOR. Thus, not all public collections that were available on the Artstor website have been republished to JSTOR. Conversely, there are new collections published to JSTOR that were not available on the Artstor website. You can explore all collections available on JSTOR on the Collections page.

The quality of the Artstor images you see on JSTOR is the same, with the same resolution.

Forum is not going anywhere, and will continue to be Forum participants' means of managing and publishing their collections.

You'll need to take a few steps to prepare your JSTOR collection, but ultimately you'll just be publishing to a new target as a JSTOR Institutional one. Throughout 2023, we engaged with institutions in publishing their content to JSTOR, and provided hands-on support for publishing through December 31, 2023. Any content published to Artstor after this date will need to be republished to JSTOR by contributors if they want it to remain available after August 1, 2024. Based on years of participant feedback and in anticipation of cost savings from the platform integration, we were able to revise and reduce our fee structure for Artstor to save institutions up to 30% on their annual fees. Fees for existing participants were reduced in a phased approach between 2022 and 2024. Please contact your account representative or participation@jstor.g.sjuku.top for more details.

You don't need a subscription to other JSTOR content to access Artstor on JSTOR - the platform, its suite of features for working with images, and millions of open access resources are free regardless of any subscription.

Artstor remains a separate content package from other JSTOR content options and is not currently offered at a reduced rate in combination with other subscriptions, or as a part of the JSTOR Archival Journals and Primary Sources Collection.

There will be no changes - invoices will continue to come from ITHAKA/JSTOR, as they have since the merger in 2016, and there is no action required from you. Artstor billing will remain separate from other JSTOR content, as we recognize that, for many institutions, the invoices are sent to different contacts and/or paid by different departments. We are, however, able to combine Artstor and JSTOR into a single invoice; if you'd prefer this, simply reach out to your account representative.

If you have signed the JSTOR Institutional Participation Agreement with a version date of 10.28.14 or later, incorporating JSTOR's Terms and Conditions of Use and Product and Payment Terms, then your agreement already covers terms for using Artstor on JSTOR and no further agreement is required by JSTOR. If you (i) have not previously used content on JSTOR, (ii) have not signed a JSTOR Institutional Participation Agreement since that version date, (iii) need to formally approve the Artstor terms, or (iv) are not sure if you need a new license agreement please review and sign a new agreement here or contact participation@jstor.g.sjuku.top.

Yes. The JSTOR platform is home to a variety of Open Access and licensed content packages of all types (books, journals, primary sources, and images). To subscribe to Artstor institutions will still need to pay an annual subscription fee that is separate from other JSTOR content that they may license. Access to licensed Artstor content is not included in the cost of other JSTOR content packages.

Artstor users can easily log in to JSTOR in the following ways:

• If you have access to Artstor or previously registered for an account on Artstor, the same email address and password also works on JSTOR.
• If you have logged into your Artstor account within the last 120 days, you will have access to content your institution subscribes to from JSTOR and Artstor.
• If you usually log in to your Artstor account through your institution's login page, you can now do that on JSTOR as well.
